Today, LOT Polish Airlines and Boeing add a bit to European history.
LOT flies the first of its eight new Boeing 787 Dreamliners from Paine Field to Warsaw. The inaugural commerical flight of the LOT 787 will be on January 16, 2013, on the route from Warsaw to Chicago (O’Hare).
The next 787s will come into service and fly from Warsaw to Toronto (Pearson) on February 1, to will begin one month later on March 3, 2013.
LOT is the first European airlines to take delivery and put into service Boeing's new composite airliner. The 787 will replace Boeing 767s on LOT's long haul routes and it 20 percent more fuel efficient.
Among those at the delivery gala in Boeing's Future of Flight Center, Mukilteo, was Poland's Ambassador to the United States Ryszard Schnepf and LOT Polish Airlines CEO Marcin Piróg.
