The "Nose," the Tacoma News Tribune's weekly snark-fest, finds something ungodly about Washington's newest political currency:
Washington labor unions have reason to be a bit cocky. Ours is the fourth-most-unionized state and boasts the highest minimum wage in America, to name just a few feathers in their union-label cap.
Now it seems their cockiness has mutated into a 20-megawatt god complex.
How else to explain the bravado surrounding the Washington State Labor Council and its new political action committee, known as the DIME PAC.
The
outfit’s logo is a 10-cent piece. You have to pay close attention to
see they replaced the words “In God We Trust” with “In Us We Trust.”

At least they didn’t whack off the head of President Franklin Roosevelt in favor of Labor Council President Rick Bender.
God bless ’em for that.
DIME is short for “Don’t Invest in More Excuses.” It means to deliver a warning to the Democratic mucky mucks in Olympia and D.C.: Labor will henceforth be more choosy about showering campaign cash and endorsements on you.
But before the unions mint any more phony currency, they should wait and see if Boeing moves to South Carolina. If that dark day dawns, they might as well switch their symbol to a different coin.
The plugged nickel.
Ouch. Of course, "not another 'plugged nickel' from labor until the Governor signs the 'Worker Privacy Act'" just wouldn't have the same ring to it.
